jolly jars

This term, our Project Based Learning (PBL) started with the teachers putting us into groups. In these groups we had to work collaboratively to create Jolly Jars for the school fair. This task helped us to begin exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we build community through our actions? We had to research ideas, be creative with our product, experiment with our materials and write instructions that could be followed by others.

Here is a link to my instructions

I learnt that instructions need to be punctuated, have full stops, be in order and written clearly so the people can read them and understand what to do. The instructions cant be hard to understand or the people making the slime wont have the most perfect outcome.

Reflection on PBL:
For our Jolly Jar my group did slime.

I contributed to my group by helping them come up with the idea of slime. We wanted to make slime because you can get good use out of it and it feels nice to play with. Lots of kids like slime so we thought it would be easy to sell. I also contributed to make our logo called Slime Masters and different slimes we could make like fluffy slime, glitter slime and galaxy slime.

Our Jolly Jar was creative because we made our own logo and we glued coloured paper on. Then we added glitter. I think this made the Jolly Jar look interesting and made people want to buy it.

What I learned about working with others is it is difficult sometimes to come up with ideas when you don`t know the other people in your group very well. It is important when you work in a group that everybody helps and that we all listen to each other.

How did we build community through our actions We wanted the fair to raise a lot of money for the bike track. To make this happen students, teachers and parents all worked together to help our school.
